This past weekend I found out that I will soon be gifted with 3 Rhode Island Red chickens and a Black American Duck! I am so excited and just can't wait! Hopefully I will get them this weekend.
We were hoping to start working on the coop and on the chicken run last night and tonight, but thanks to hard days at work and heat, it just didn't happen. So our plan is to do some major work tomorrow night and Friday night and hopefully have something ready for when the birds get to come to their new place. I know because of time constraints our little coop and run will be "rough" in the beginning, but I am truly looking forward to the time when I can actually decorate my little coop. :)
This week has been a stressful week at work for my hubby and for myself and tonight we decided that family time and some stretching out and relaxing was what we really needed. We marked it on our day planner that tomorrow is the IT day to make progress on the coop and on the run. I hope the netting I ordered to go over the top hurry up and gets here soon!.
I guess that is about all I have going on this week. Probably should have spent my evening doing some housework, but the way I see it, housework doesn't go anywhere....it will be waiting for me when I get ready to do it! lol
Calling for some bad weather in my part of the country, so if you live in the South Plains of Texas, please keep an eye on the weather!!!
Take care and God Bless.

Home Is Always Where The Peace Is.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes life seems so stressful when you are at work, a social event, or even maybe a family gathering, but get HOME, and all of a sudden life is calm again?
Yesterday and today I had more than my fair share of "yuck" at work. I came home tonight and I told my hubby that I felt like the song from "The Band Perry", ~All I Want To Be Is Done~ lol. I felt that wiped out!
I got home and watered all of the plants, filled the bird feeders, straightened up a few things, went back to work for a little while, and then came home and checked emails then I went outside.
That was the moment life instantly got better. I walked out and petted the goats for a little while, then went to spend some time with the horses, and they let me love all over them. Then I sat on the swing and watched the dogs playing tug of war, the cats chasing each other, the goats playing with each other and the birds chirping and the wind was not blowing and I thought to myself......this is my PEACE. This is my CALM.
Being able to go sit outside and hear the birds chirp and watch all of my fur buddies running around playing is what makes getting up and going to work so worth it. The calm and the peace that just washed over me was almost overwhelming. Sometime I think we get so caught up in the "busy" times in life that we forget to stop and enjoy the "nothing" times in life. For me, sitting outside and watching the animals play was a PEACE I have needed all day long. I can't even begin to explain how much more relaxed I am now. Maybe I need to start coming home for lunch and instead of eating, just sit outside and watch the animals play and enjoy the PEACE!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon
We have had a pretty low key afternoon. Went treasure hunting at a farmers old place that has a bunch of dilapidated buildings on it that he is planning to tear down. We pulled down some awesome tongue and groove wood that my sweetie used to make a bench for the breeze way in the barn. The base of the bench is an old pallet and some scrap lumber and the top is the wood we found today.
I found several old bed springs. Can't wait to use those to do some crafting! I finished painting the craft storage unit that we have been working on. I will post pictures at a later date. Did a little bit of housework and now I am starting supper.
A pretty nice Sunday afternoon if I do say so myself. :) Hope everyone else had a great Sunday!!!!

Rambles Of A Crazy Lady!
I just started this blog last night and I am sure I will probably change it a million times until I get it where I want it. At this point I am not even sure how I want it to be!
I think tonight I will start out with a little background on the creators of Itty Bitty Acres.
I was born and raised in Texas, briefly lived in Colorado, but Texas called me back home and this is where I intend to stay. My husband was born and raised in Colorado and I am sure would love to live there again someday, but am confident when I say that Texas is where he will stay. hehehehe!
My hubby and I have been married for almost 22 years. We have a 20 year old daughter and an 18 year old son. I am a bookkeeper and my hubby is a GM automotive technician. I LOVE the country life and he LOVES animals, so put us together and ITTY BITTY ACRES was born. First we decided we wanted to buy a house in the country. I went on the journey of finding the perfect house, but to my surprise my hubby said I know of a house for sale that we should go look at it and there is where our hunt ended. Our wish list was as follows:
A. Corner lot or no neighbors close by.
B. A little bit of land.
C. A shop.
D. Fenced in.
E Circle driveway or plenty of parking.
F. Two car garage.
G. Lots of trees.
H. Open concept, 3/2/2
I. Basement
J. Fireplace
K. Hardwood floors.
Not too long of a list huh?
Well we ended up with 2 1/2 acres on a corner lot, with a shop, a barn bigger than our house, fenced and crossed fenced, a 3/2/2 with circle driveway, lots of trees, open concept and hardwood floors. No basement and no fireplace and more land that we thought we would need, but oh well. Now we wished we had more land!!! lol
Once we moved out here 6 years ago we discovered that I love to garden and he really loves animals! We have always had dogs and cats.....then came the Nigerian Dwarf goats.......then I fell in love with miniature horses, so along came two miniature horses.......my sweetie loves birds so then came the two golden pheasants. Our future we hope will hold chickens and ducks. We are contemplating raising our own beef, just not confident yet that we could take an animal we raise to slaughter! We are all a bunch of softies!!!!. Family and friends say we have a petting zoo. :)
Anyway, these are just a few tidbits about our lives. More will come, and most likely randomly!!!!

The first day of June 2013 at Itty Bitty Acres :)
Woke up to a beautiful morning that quickly became a beautiful windy morning!!! Suffered a severe migraine last night and some of its remnants seem to remain today accompanied by nausea. Still managed to have some quality time with all the animals today!
We even managed to get the first two layers painted on my craft storage unit that the hubby and I are working on. And my sweetie started working on building a long bench to put in the breeze way in the barn that we can sit on when we are "bird" watching the golden pheasants!!!!
Tonight neighbors down the road were riding their normal size horses down beside the property where are miniature horses were. It was so adorable watching our horses run to the fence to meet and greet the "big" horses. There was a lot of neighing going on! lol The best part though was when the big horses left, our minis took off running full speed and ran and jumped and bucked all across the arena. It was so beautiful watching the horses run so carefree!
I love my minis!!!!
